— — Kenyans have made headlines around the world for the past several months, but there was one story that was never mentioned in the headlines: a new, highly controversial vaccine that is now the subject of a lawsuit.
The lawsuit filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Georgia contends the United States government violated the Americans with Disabilities Act by failing to protect Kenyas children from the Mumps M-cell vaccine.
The suit claims that the federal government failed to act in response to a warning from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about Mumps.
It’s not clear whether the lawsuit will go to trial.
The Mumps vaccine was approved for use in Kenya in 2007.
