Wisconsin lawmakers want to make it illegal for people to get busted in the state’s paper business.
The House of Representatives on Wednesday voted to prohibit local police from conducting warrantless searches in a measure that passed by a margin of almost 6-1.
It also would ban local police officers from entering the papers of the Madison newspaper, the Daily Advertiser.
In the past, Wisconsin police have raided and arrested people with warrants, and in some cases even arrested and charged people with felony crimes.
