The article quoted a school source saying McElWain would not be fired, that he would be suspended and that the team would not pay the $20,000 fine he was given for violating the team’s drug policy.
McElroy was arrested in March of 2018 for allegedly possessing more than a half pound of methamphetamine.
A week later, he was fired by the Gators.
The paper also quoted a source saying that he was going to be suspended as well, but would not face a suspension.
