The Next Internet news outlet is expected to be taken private, after its owner News Corp announced it was buying The NextWest.
News Corp said the deal will allow the news business to focus on its core business of digital news and content distribution, as well as other businesses.
The deal will also provide News Corp with more capital to accelerate its strategy of digitizing its newspapers and magazines.
The Next West, which launched in 2006, is one of the few news publications that has not suffered a significant drop in traffic.
The publisher reported $5.2 billion in revenues in 2016, according to the most recent SEC filings.
The business is led by Chief Executive Keith M. Anderson.
