NEW YORK — The New England Patriots defeated the Indianapolis Colts by a 21-14 score on Sunday, clinching their first AFC East championship since 2013.
The Patriots, who are 2-0 in their last four home games, moved one win behind the Colts for second place in the AFC.
The Patriots are 9-1 in their past 10 games in New England.
Colts quarterback Andrew Luck completed 28 of 37 passes for 300 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another.
“I’ve got to give them credit.
They are a great team,” Luck said.
“They had a tough game against the Patriots, and they are going to bounce back and play well in this one.”
Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Dalton finished with five catches for 52 yards, but he was sacked seven times.
Dalton also threw an interception and fumbled the ball twice.
The Colts were without their starting left tackle Andrew Bynum, who is dealing with a foot injury, and receiver Donte Moncrief, who suffered a shoulder injury.
New England lost cornerback Patrick Chung to a broken right fibula, linebacker Brandon Browner suffered a hamstring injury and cornerback Logan Ryan sustained a concussion.
The Colts had two sacks in the game.

Wilson, who has been inactive since Week 2 with a shoulder ailment, finished with three interceptions, including one on Sunday.
He has six interceptions in his career.

Ryan had eight catches for 103 yards.
They held their final four opponents to 37 yards or less.
They also had a team-high 13 penalties for 103 total yards.
The Dolphins led 23-10 after the first quarter.
The Patriots scored a touchdown on a 2-yard touchdown run by quarterback Jacoby Brissett with 1:17 remaining in the first.
Luck completed 13 of 15 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown.
Luck threw for four touchdowns and two interceptions in that game.
Indianapolis lost for the second time in three games.
The Dolphins are 7-3 against the AFC East.
They have won three of their last five in New York.
Indianfield, who was injured during the season opener against the New Orleans Saints, will miss at least three to four weeks after injuring his right shoulder during the win over Miami.
